The Viney Agency

Mark Griffiths When she was eight, Fleur wrote a story about an alien and a jelly. It was called The Alien and the Jelly. She grew up a little, studied English, and, for twenty years, sold Applied Art in the city of Bath. All that time she wrote hundreds of press releases and a few stories, but in the end motherhood won and she retreated from the Art world, only writing when the children were asleep. When her younger child was seven, she embarked on the Writing for Young People MA at Bath Spa, and after graduating with a distinction, signed up with The Viney Agency.

Between parenting and writing, Fleur works with her husband, a Toymaker, looks after other people’s gardens, and grows vegetables.

Fleur is thrilled to be published by both Hot Key Books and Nosy Crow for her children’s books, for which she has received the following honours:

Shrunk! was The Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Week, longlisted for the Branford Boase Award, Shortlisted for the Fab Children's Book Prize (Lancashire Libraries) and the Heart of Hawick Children's Book Prize.

Dear Scarlett was shortlisted for the IBW (Independent Booksellers) Prize, longlisted for Leicester's Our Best Book Award 2014 and selected for the Bookbuzz reading programme from Booktrust.

And her books have been described by the press as:

"always fun" - Sunday Times

"an exciting adventure story with a highly satisfactory conclusion:'' - The Guardian

Saving Sophia was The Times Children's Book of the Week: "A clever, pacey crime thriller for beginners"

Murder in Midwinter was also selected by Bookbuzz and won the Leeds Book Prize 2017 and is shortlisted for the Crimefest Awards 2017.
