In Brightstorm, twins Arthur and Maudie receive word in Lontown that their explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach South Polaris. But when a mysterious clue appears, they start to question the story they've been told.  They join the crew of a new exploration attempt, headed by the vivacious Captain Harriet Culpepper, in the hope of learning the truth, and possibly saving their father. As the winged ship Aurora sets sail, the twins must keep their wits about them and prove themselves worthy of the rest of the crew in this daunting race to win explorer glory.

With flying ships, psychic wolves, family secrets and a stunning villainess, Brightstorm is a thrilling middle grade adventure that is perfect for fans of Cogheart and readers who may be a bit too young for His Dark Materials and Mortal Engines.
